The Family Place hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, designed to bring families together, celebrate community, and support our mission. Super Soaked Saturday
Join us for a fun summery day in July, a FREE day of water fun for all ages! We set up our very own Transylvania water park at Transylvania County Parks & Recreation. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the summer sun while cooling down in style. We will have water slides, water tables, music by DJ Dogg and more!
Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and bring a towel. Don’t forget sunscreen, snacks, lawn chair or blanket!
This event is a collaboration between The Family Place, Transylvania County Library, and Transylvania County Parks & Recreation.
The fun will happen rain or shine!
Harvest Hootenanny
Join us for a fun-filled Harvest Hootenanny at The Family Place! Celebrate the season with face painting, games, pumpkin decorating, crafts, music, and delicious snacks. There’s something for everyone, making it a perfect outing for families to enjoy fall festivities together.
Connect with other families, get creative, and soak in the joyful atmosphere. We can’t wait to see you there for an unforgettable harvest celebration!
Festival of Lights
Make this Festival of Lights an annual holiday tradition and create magical memories with your whole family! Get ready for a night full of fun, laughter, and holiday cheer at Deerwoode Reserve December 10th - 13th, 2026.
Enjoy everything from crafts and roasting s’mores to a beautiful trail through the dazzling light displays. Capture the season’s spirit with photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and you never know—you might even spot the Grinch wandering through spreading his mischievous holiday spirit!
With festive tunes and a photo booth to snap all your favorite moments, this event is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. Don't miss out on this unforgettable night of joy, laughter, and twinkling lights!
Volunteer Appreciation Banquet
Join us as we celebrate the heart and soul of The Family Place—our incredible volunteers! Our Volunteer Appreciation Banquet is a special evening dedicated to honoring the generous individuals who give their time, energy, and love to support our mission.
