Recently, at one of our weekly parent chats, we made homemade play dough and chatted about how great it is to work together as a family creating something and spending quality time with each other. We also discussed teaching your children math skills by following a recipe (we had to triple our recipe). There are many other benefits to playing with play dough for children, such as enhancing their creativity / imagination, social/emotional development, as well as fine motor skills.

After mashing the warm play dough in our hands we could feel our stress melting away. This led to a discussion about ways to relieve stress. Here are some of the ideas our parents came up with:
- Go outside
- Taking a walk
- Talking to a friend
- Listening to music
- Deep breathing
- Getting sleep

The parents created symbols of their families with the playdough. Below are some of the creations.
