Life and Playdough
Recently, at one of our weekly parent chats, we made homemade play dough and chatted about how great it is to work together as a family creating something and spending quality time with each other. We talked about how you can teach your children math skills by following a recipe (we had to triple our recipe). There are many other benefits to playing with play dough for children, such as enhancing their creativity / imagination, social/emotional development, as well as fine motor skills. You can read about the power of play dough here:
After mashing the warm play dough in our hands we could feel our stress melting away. This led us into a discussion about ways to relieve stress. Here are some of the ideas our parents came up with:
- Going outside.
- Taking a walk.
- Talking to a friend.
- Listening to music.
- Breathing deeply.
- Getting sleep.

The parents ended up creating symbols of their families with the playdough, and we took a picture. Here is a picture of our creations.
